For force calculation using example below: Enter "Number of Turns", "Bobbin Length" can be anything except 0, enter "Bobbin Diameter (D)" this is the iron core diameter, enter "Rated Current (I)", enter "Gap Distance (G), then click calculate. This will give you the Electromagnetic Force pulling the Arm to the Iron Core of the coil. The equation used is: F = (N x I)^2 x K x A / (2 x G^2) N = the number of turns in the solenoid I = the current, in amperes (I) A = the cross-sectional area of the magnet in meters squared G = the distance or gap, in meters, between the coil and the piece of metal K = 4π x 10^-7 tesla meter per ampere (Tm/A).
